Our History

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations was established in 1958 as a successor to the Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate. It was set up to provide a national alternative to the Cambridge examinations that were being conducted in India.

Over the decades, CISCE has grown from a small examining body to one of the largest and most respected boards in India, affiliating over 2,500 schools across the country and overseas.

The Council has continuously evolved its curriculum and examination patterns to keep pace with global educational trends while maintaining its commitment to academic rigor and integrity.
